In a cozy corner of the Hill, the Storytelling Club, a haven for budding wordsmiths and narrative enthusiasts, has become a thriving hub of creativity and connection. Led by senior Amy Asubonteng, the Storytelling Club provides a platform for students to share their unique tales by weaving together threads of imagination and emotion.
Interested in literature, film and poetry, Asubonteng and friends founded this club for anyone who has a story to tell.
“I mostly made this club so people could come and read or tell short stories about what they want to write about,” Asubonteng said. “Basically just having a group of people sharing stories.”
English teacher Jessica Fout, the club sponsor, recognizes the power of storytelling.
“I think it’s good for students to be in more groups with the same interests and by sharing them with stories,” Fout said.
Asubonteng is moved by a lot of the stories she has heard from the club and finds joy in the diverse narratives through her meetings.
“There have been people from time to time who have shared stories that are really graceful and nice to hear which is why I enjoy keeping the club going,” Asubonteng said.
All students are welcome to join, anyone who is interested in joining the club can go to its next official meeting on Dec. 22, 2023. They will be reviewing different forms of storytelling and viewpoints.
