New Dimensions and Iridescence kicked off show choir competition season by revealing their shows in performances during the Friday and weekend of Jan. 26 through 28. New Dimensions, Clover Hill’s mixed show choir’s theme this year was “Vampires,” and Iridescence, Clover Hill’s all female show choir’s theme this year was “Saint Patrick’s Day Party.”
Until this past weekend, the public had not seen New Dimensions and Iridescence perform their spectacular shows. Show choir director, Nicole Whitby, who did show choir herself in high school and college, expresses her excitement to finally be able to show off what her choirs have been practicing for the last 3 months. She appreciates their commitment and sacrifice that has led them to this moment.
“We’ve come leaps and bounds since the beginning of this year,” Whitby said. “Everybody has just put in a lot of hard work, time, and effort, so it’s paid off.”
To resemble the theme of a Saint Patrick’s Day party, Iridescence’s costumes had elements of green and gold intertwined with them. They opened the show wearing short green dresses, then changed into long gowns with skirts that came off to reveal gold pants. On the other hand, the colors red, black and purple were tied in with New Dimensions’ vampire costumes.
“Most of it is like pop,” Whitby said. “That’s kind of where we go because we want to have that audience interaction.”
Iridescence opened their show dancing to irish folk music, and New Dimensions opened with the song “Part of Your World,” but with a comedic vampire twist. With colorful lights, outstanding costumes and fitting song choices, the Hill knows that Iridescence and New Dimensions will both shine at competitions throughout the rest of the season.
Senior Meera Del Favero, who is in both New Dimensions and Iridescence, was a dancer before she joined show choir and really enjoys it.
“Show choir means a lot to me,” Del Favero said. “I grew up singing, but I didn’t really do anything with it. It’s dancing and singing, so it’s like two of my favorite things, and I love it.”

I love that people are talking about our show choir! I feel like many people do not know that we have a show choir or really what it is. I think this article is a great way to introduce our school’s show choir to anyone.
