“The main focus of this elective is to try to unravel the poetry of popular music, turning lyrics into the literary masterpieces they truly are today,” Monroe Said. ”My aim with this class is to compose an experience where students not only analyze the rhymes, but fostering in its expressive depths.”
With a focus on critical thinking and cultural awareness, this elective equips students to examine famous music, encouraging a nuanced understanding of its societal implications and connections.
“The type of music will vary depending on what genres students are interested in,” Monroe said “We’ll mostly be focusing on what’s popular here in the country such as american music, country, rhythm and blues, and jazz.”

“Overall I wanted to make this class so students could enjoy hearing music and learn the unique narratives across various genres.” Monroe said.
