Thursday Aug. 29 officially marked the start of varsity football’s 2024 season here on The Hill. Despite the intense heat this past week, students, staff, friends and families still gathered to support the Cavalier football team during their game this season against Meadowbrook.
The special teams department for the varsity Cavaliers were outstanding, scoring a touchdown from a kick return. Several important blocks were set as Senior Gavin Glasco sprinted past the kicking team and brought it in for 6. In addition to the special teams, the defense made crucial stops to keep the game close. The final score was 28-12 in Meadowbrook’s favor. Looking forward to next week, the green and gold have a bye week, which will be used to sharpen skills and recover from the week one defeat.
In addition, the Marching Cavaliers also put on an incredible performance with the Star Spangled Banner, fan favorite stand tunes, and a performance of their 2024 marching show during halftime, The Golden Record.
