Clover Hills forum welcomed 26 new members into the Music Honors Society on Friday the 27th. The Music Honors society, Tri-M, spotlights juniors and seniors who are enrolled in a music class at Clover Hill.
The organized ceremony, lead by Mrs. Teresa Maclin, took off with an oral presentation section followed by a series of musical performances.
Junior Maggie Samuel, chose to accept Tri-M´s invitation because she wanted to create more connections in Clover Hill’s music community.¨ I wanted to be more involved in the musical community at Clover Hill High School,¨ she said.
The oral presentation section ranged from reports on the blues to personal poems about music. The musical performances that followed consisted of duets and solos of instrumental and singing pieces.
¨Music acts as a universal language that expresses emotions in different ways that can be understood by everyone¨ Said Samuel.
The audience watched attentively as the new members showed off the soul reason they were extended an invitation to the Music Honors Society.
¨The performance that stuck out to me the most was Abby Ellis´s. She did a wonderful job, sounded great, guitar was nice, and she had a good balance of volume,¨ said Maggie.
Tri-M has been organized as a close knit family feeling community. It is one of the only places where all music departments on the hill collide.
When Maclin was asked what her favorite part about hosting Tri-M every year, she said it was ¨getting to know the music leaders within all of the disciplines and seeing them emerge passionately as leaders.¨
The induction ceremony closed off with a beautiful instrumental trio by Julianne Woo, Laura Larimer, and Kathryn Waugh.
