Clover Hill’s new Principal, David Altizer, has promising plans for the Hill this year. Altizer wants to see a stronger and tighter community within our school; he plans to do this by getting students more involved with sports and clubs.
Altizer just began his first year as Clover Hill’s principal after working at Manchester Middle School for six years. Every school has its own unique culture, and he has found that the culture of Clover Hill is a uniquely fragmented one.
Altizer discusses what he thinks about the school’s culture: “I feel like we’re kind of splintered doing their own little things,” Altizer said. He also mentioned that he had conversations with SCA and athletic groups that “are in there in their own little world.”
Altizer compares the Hill to unified schools with and how they cooperate through their struggles. He spoke about the communities and school environment.
“[The} most surprising [thing I noticed] is just how unified schools are [in] their challenges,” Altizer said.
Altizer feels that Clover Hill is “splintered” into groups, and wants to try and build a more synchronized community.
“To me right now, we have this really awesome school, the majority of people seem to know where they’re going and what they’re doing,” Altizer said. “I feel like we could build the cohesiveness and collaboration of that. ”
Altizer invites students to come to sports games, saying it is not about the teams or players but the “social” environment. “I want kids to come to our volleyball games, to come to our soccer games, to come to our basketball games,” Altizer said. “Not just to see the teams, but as true social events.”
Overall, Altizer is building a community to unify Clover Hill students with the use of sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.

I enjoyed reading your article. Mr. Altizer was my principle at Manchester Middle School for the little time I attended. He always seemed to be engaged and active with the students, and I look forward to the changes be looks to implement. You all did an excellent job writing this article about Mr. Altizer and his plans.

I started middle school during Mr. Altizer’s 2nd year as Manchester Middle’s principal. He seemed nice enough, and I would always say hi to him whenever I saw him. While I wasn’t expecting him to become Clover Hill’s new principal, It was nice to see him again. Looking forward to whatever he has planned for our school.
