Departing from Fall with Winter just around the corner, the craze for Starbucks drinks is spreading through the halls, leaving students satisfied, but at what cost?
According to ScrapeHero Data company, Starbucks is unavoidably the most popular coffee shop in America, and it is even more admired when they are selling their limited time seasonal drinks at roughly 15,000 locations.
Beginning on Aug. 22nd, Starbucks released a limited time Fall menu, that came to an end at the end of Nov. Following the Fall menu, they also set up a Winter menu which started on Nov. 7th, and will be leaving in Jan. Their seasonal menus are filled with tasty and limited edition flavors, which makes them extremely popular and loved.
Clover Hill Junior, Ava Mojaddidi, is a big fan of the Fall edition drink, the Iced Pumpkin cream chai.
“Even though it’s winter now I still get the pumpkin chai,” Mojaddidi said.
Some students even identify Starbucks as a “prize” after risking sleep for school work.
“I stay up late doing homework, and then give myself starbucks as a reward,” Mojaddidi said.
Starbucks is a great way to make your eyes awake and taste buds happy, but maybe not your wallet, especially when seasonal drinks are out.
“[Seasonal drinks] make me feel more festive and I spend more money because I crave them,” Mojaddidi said.
Customers themselves notice the difference in their attraction to Starbucks during the seasons. But, buyers are not the only ones who notice this change, the workers are also aware.
Former Starbucks employee, Stephanie Quinones, states the influence that seasonal drinks have on Starbucks sales and revenue.
“I would say [holiday drinks] are very significant because Starbucks essentially makes the majority of its money by having seasonal drinks, regardless of holidays,” says Quinones.
No matter what the price is of holiday drinks, the first day the menus drop, it’s nothing but tempting to try them. A cup of Starbucks may fuel your day, but it is worth questioning if the routine it creates is brewing more than just coffee.
