At the beginning of this school year, Clover Hill High School decided that juniors would dismiss from class at the end of the day with the sophomores and freshmen at 3:00 instead of 2:57.
While some students and staff see the 3 minute change as a minor adjustment, others are speaking out about the overcrowding, noise, and chaos it has created in the hallways and parking lots. Sophomore Christen Sims expresses her disapproval with the recent dismissal changes because the hallways afterschool are crowded since everyone is trying to get to the same place all at once.
“It’s very hard to get around because the hallways are very crowded now,” Sims said. “I want it to go back to normal because juniors are driving and need to leave early.”
Sophomore Dejanae Williams says that the recent dismissal changes have made her feel “overstimulated,” not to mention she believes the school has become “very crowded.”
Williams then elaborates on her feeling of overstimulation saying that she is overly nervous and anxious. She also mentions how it has affected the school.
“The school has gotten very noisy and very unorganized,” Williams said.
Jack Cunha, an English teacher at the Hill, disagrees with the majority saying that it is a differentiation between privileges that separate juniors and seniors.
“I understand why they put the rule there, and I think that it reflects the privileges of becoming a senior,” Cunha said.
Lily Frantz Laferriere, a junior at the Hill, highlights the crowd and traffic in the student parking lot.
“I am not a big fan of it. It makes it kind of hard to get out of the parking lot in the afternoon,” Frantz Laferriere said. “There are so many people trying to get out at once.”
Most of the students hate this alteration in their daily lives, but as it is here to stay, we all have to learn to adjust.
