January 18th, 2025 was the day that the social media app loved worldwide, TikTok, was banned. The app was banned for a total of 12 hours beginning at midnight.
Thinking the app would be gone forever, many were disheartened. In fact, upon hearing the news, a multitude of TikTok creators, thinking their platform would never return, began revealing things they never would have otherwise.
A prime example of this is the popular language app, Duolingo. Nearing the banning of the app, Duolingo decided to reveal their mascot to the world, invoking various emotions. They were not the only creators on the app that revealed their deepest darkest secrets; many other creators did too.
Some reacted in a different way to the final decision surrounding the app. A 19-year-old, who remains anonymous, was arrested on Sunday, January 19th. The young man is to be charged for potentially setting fire to a strip mall that belonged to one of the Wisconsin congressional offices.
The Congressman was expressing his thoughts on the TikTok ban, which the man did not agree with. Thankfully the mall was vacant considering it was around midnight.
Even after many emotional roller coasters that came along with losing TikTok, it is now back in the App Store, and people are happy again. Influencers are beginning back with their content, and most of the videos where they confessed secrets have been deleted.
