Boys Basketball
The 2024-2025 Clover Hill boys basketball season was a rollercoaster of momentum shifts, marked by hot streaks and hard-fought losses. After opening the season with a six-game skid, the Cavaliers knew adjustments were necessary to turn things around. Their breakthrough came after Winter Break, when they secured a dominant 60-42 home victory over Prince George. The following day, they traveled to Henrico, where they battled J.R. Tucker to a thrilling overtime finish, ultimately falling in a heartbreaking defeat. A major upset win over Huguenot gave the team momentum, though it was followed by four tough losses against some of the strongest competition in Central Virginia.
As February arrived and a postseason berth remained within reach, the Cavaliers mounted a four-game winning streak in just eight days, defeating Midlothian, Manchester, Richmond High School of the Arts, and James River to stay alive in the playoff race. However, their season came to a close with a decisive loss to James River, ending their postseason hopes. With only three seniors graduating, the Cavaliers are poised for a regional playoff push next season.
Girls Basketball
The Clover Hill girls basketball team found strength in youthful leadership, with sophomore Olivia Kraft emerging as the team’s standout performer, leading in rebounds, assists, and steals. Despite finishing with a 7-14 record, the team narrowly missed a regional playoff appearance. With only one senior departing, the Green and Gold are positioned for continued growth and a stronger postseason bid next year.
Swim
Under the leadership of Lehigh University commit Spencer Campbell, the Clover Hill swim team delivered a strong showing at the Class 5 Region C Championships, finishing sixth overall. For the men’s team, senior Tate Bupp led the way with 29 points, followed closely by Carson Ellenberger with 28. On the women’s side, Lucy Wagner and Carter Hinton secured first and second place finishes, highlighting the team’s depth and talent.
Track
A powerhouse in the region and state, the Clover Hill track team continued its tradition of excellence, with two athletes capturing state championships. Junior Kara Harris defended her Triple Jump state title, securing her second career championship. Meanwhile, junior Joshua Taylor dominated the 3200-meter race, clinching first place with a school-record time of 9:15.37.
Wrestling
The Cavalier wrestling team delivered an impressive season, earning the title of Regional Runner-up. Eight wrestlers secured top-six finishes, including Jackson Kohne, Michael Garcia, Luke Dibert, Erik Torres, Jace DeAngelis, Colton Eam, Kaiden Webb, and Lars Giersmann. Their success propelled them to the Class 5 Region A State Championships in Virginia Beach, where several competitors advanced deep into the tournament before falling just short of a podium finish.
