Ellena Purvis has been an active senior during their time at Clover Hill. Purvis has been involved in multiple activities and been acknowledged for their work on the Hill; being in sports such as softball, positions like Allies Club leadership, and being recognized with the Physics One excellence Award.
Purvis was on the softball team for three years on the Hill. They were going to be on the softball team their senior year as well but had to back out due to personal reasons. They shared their favorite aspects of softball and how it pushed them to grow.
“Getting outside and exercising, challenging the skills that I’m not good at, and getting to improve that,” Purvis said.
Purvis was a part of the Clover Hill Allies Club leadership team along with four others. Purvis helped setting the dates when Allies Club would use the library and always made sure everyone stayed on task and kept up with deadlines to create fun activities for the club to partake in. Purvis also had their Ceramics work displayed at Art Factory for her senior showcase. The pieces displayed contained her Spider-man Bust, Daredevil Bust, and her piece called “A Leg Up”. Purvis shared how the class impacted their own artistic endeavors.
“The people; seeing what people create and what incredible art I can add to,” Purvis said.
Purvis always made sure people felt included and treated everyone as a friend, even if they had just met them. Purvis never failed at making people feel included. They expressed their care for the people who surrounded them at Clover Hill.
“I have the absolute best friends, even some of my stinky junior friends mean everything to me and I wouldn’t be here without them,” Purvis said.
Purvis has decided they will be going to Virginia Commonwealth University for the next step in their life. Their major is undecided, but they know they will continue to pursue the creativity they fostered at Clover Hill.
“I want my life to always have creativity in it,” Purvis said.
On Friday, May 9, Purvis won the Physics One excellence Award during the senior meeting. Purvis graduated with cords for Honors, National French Honors Society, and National Art Honors Society, along with their Allies Club Pin. Puvris has created many memories here at Clover Hill, and has left a lasting impact on many. Their last piece of wisdom for Clover Hill and its current students was one of sentimentality; advising students to be present and enjoy their time here while it lasts.
“High school will end in your years no matter how you spend it. You can rush through it, but It’ll still be four years of rushing. Enjoy the little moments, break some rules, consider what you’ll remember in ten years, and worry less about the studying you won’t. Most importantly, enjoy the people. High school memories are shaped by the people you share them with,” Purvis said.
