
As Stacy Vargas Mendoza walked the stage at graduation, she left behind a legacy at Clover Hill with her many accomplishments.
As a student in the Math and Science Specialty Center, and a member of her class office, Vargas Mendoza played an important role in the community through the various extracurricular activities she participated in.
“I’ve served as SCA Secretary, Junior Class Secretary, MathSci ambassador, and a Freshman Mentor,” Vargas Mendoza said. “I’m also a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Beta Club, English Honor Society, Sources of Strength, and Model UN.”
Apart from being in a multitude of clubs, Vargas Mendoza also played lacrosse for four years before an ACL injury. Because of her dedication to and involvement in Math/Sci at Clover Hill, Vargas Mendoza was proud to share that she was elected as the graduation speaker for the Math/Sci Specialty Center.
“Some of my biggest accomplishments include co-leading the Hispanic Heritage Homecoming Dance Showcase, founding LingoLink (an ESL tutoring program), and being elected as the graduation speaker for the Math and Science Specialty Center,” Vargas Mendoza said.
Throughout being in various clubs, Vargas Mendoza has learned life long skills such as leadership, initiative, and adaptability. These skills have prepared her to lead with purpose and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

“These roles have helped me grow as a leader and individual. I’ve developed through time management, critical thinking abilities, and strong organizational skills,” Vargas Mendoza said. “Founding LingoLink and mentoring others strengthened my ability to take initiative and support students in meaningful ways. Overall, these experiences have prepared me to lead with purpose and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.”
Clover Hill is great in many ways: the staff, students, different opportunities. Out of these many great things, Vargas Mendoza’s favorite thing about Clover Hill is the flexibility offered, the staff, and the diverse community of Clover Hill.
“What I’ve loved most about Clover Hill is the freedom and flexibility offered. Whether it was starting a new program or helping organize an event, the teachers and faculty always gave the space and support needed to take initiative,” Vargas Mendoza said. “I also really appreciated the diversity at Clover Hill. It created a vibrant community where different perspectives are valued and where you can truly learn and grow from the people around you.”
The last step of high school is figuring out where to go for college and what to do. Vargas Mendoza has it all planned out by planning to attend Penn State to major in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Finance. Vargas Mendoza chose Penn State because of its highly respected engineering program.
“I plan on attending Penn State to major in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Finance. I chose Penn State because of its highly respected engineering program and strong alumni network, which I know will open doors for future opportunities,” Vargas Mendoza said. “The generous scholarships and financial aid I received also made it a great fit and honestly, the energy of the campus especially during white out football games made it really hard to say no.”
Clover Hill will miss such an ambitious young woman and a great role model to everyone around her. Vargas Mendoza is going to do great things moving forward and deserves being recognized for what she has done for this community.
