This school year at Clover Hill has brought many new beginnings, especially for English teacher Meagan Southworth’s new role as the new yearbook teacher.
One reason that Southworth took on such a role is because she thought it would be a fun opportunity to try something new. Southworth recognizes the importance of physical media and leading the yearbook to success.
“I was asked if I’d be interested in the possibility and after a few weeks of reflection decided it would be a fun opportunity to try something new,” Southworth said. “The idea of working together as a staff to create physical media is exciting! In a world of social media and stories that disappear after 24 hours, a physical media to remind alumni about their high school experience is as important as it ever was”
Southworth is excited to manage a course that is also business. She likes working with the yearbook staff to meet deadlines and reach goals. She enjoys the challenge and is confident she and her staff will create a book they are proud of.
“It’s exciting to manage a course that is also a business. We sell books and senior spotlights, have publishing deadlines to meet, and have to work together as a staff to accomplish our goals which make it very different than the normal English courses I get to teach,” Southworth said. “One challenge is figuring out the best way for me to make sure we don’t miss anything as I’m learning all of the ends and outs of advising a yearbook staff. I like a challenge and am confident the staff will create a book we are all proud of!” a
The hard work and dedication from Southworth and the yearbook staff will be remembered in every new yearbook made for years to come.
