As Clover Hill’s 2025 field hockey season comes to a close, athletes reflect on their team’s growth with Marley Guidry and Kate Evans as their coaches this year.
This new coaching duo has brought a wave of excitement, discipline, and teamwork to the field hockey team. Both coaches are passionate about the sport and helping their players grow as athletes and individuals. Evans, who played field hockey throughout high school and college, shares how the girls on this team are the closest thing she has to daughters.
“They are exceptional on and off the field,” Evans said. “No matter what difficulties they face they continue to grow and give their all.”
Players from both the junior varsity (JV) and varsity teams say they have already noticed improvements in their playing this season. Senior varsity player Meredith Greer enjoys the new coaching style and believed it has helped the team have better communication on the field. In addition, senior varsity player, Campbell Redding, agreed saying the team feels more united and focused.
“I think the team has improved a lot this season especially with the new coaches teaching us things we might not have been in the past,” Redding said.
JV players Evaline Cadigan and Aria Louis both added that the support and feedback they received from their coaches has helped them build confidence and learn from every experience.
The combination of fresh leadership and returning players with lots of talent has created a supportive and determined team atmosphere for the girls’s field hockey program. Players say they are proud of the progress they have made so far and are excited to keep improving throughout the season. In just this season alone, Guidry and Evans have impacted Clover Hill’s girl’s field hockey team, having set them up for a promising season.
