After announcing his retirement, Tom Brady is officially coming back to the NFL for the 2022-2023 season.

Tom Brady is not ready to hang up the helmet yet. In a previous article, we hinted at a potential Tom Brady return. Well, it has happened. On Sunday night, Tom Brady posted a pair of pictures on his Instagram and Twitter accounts with a caption that confirmed that he would be returning for a 23rd season. At 7:13 pm, Brady reversed course on his retirement, which was announced almost two months ago.

“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” Brady said. “That time will come. But it’s not now.”

Officially, Brady’s retirement lasted all of 40 days. However, he never was technically retired, as the Buccaneers kept hold of his contract for the 2022 season, which reportedly was worth $10.4 million.

After Brady announced his ‘retirement,’ the Buccaneers left the door open for his potential return. Now that he is back, the Buccaneers return as the NFC South favorites for 2022.

Brady’s decision to unretire ends a quarterback hunt for the Buccaneers, who likely would have resorted to the draft for a franchise quarterback. They were previously reported to have interest in Houston Texans quarterback, Deshaun Watson, however, never made an offer to the Texans due to the possibility of a Tom Brady return.

Brady will continue his storied career, which has him as the NFL’s all-time passing yards leader at 84,520 yards.
