Following a turbulent two years of Covid-19 protocols, restrictive regulations for student athletes, and shortened seasons, seniors Bryson Jennings and Abe Uqdah represented Clover Hill High School on Wednesday morning by signing their letters of intent and officially committing to their respective universities.

Uqdah committed to Hampton University on Monday, despite the fact that he received many other offers from schools such as Hampden-Sydney, Edward Waters, Virginia State, West Virginia Wesleyan, and the Virginia Military Institute, by putting the pen to the paper today with the opening of the early signing period.

Uqdah finished the season with 46 catches, 615 receiving yards, and eight total touchdowns, making him a member of the 5A All-Region Second team at the wide receiver position.

In Uqdah’s commitment post he said, “First off I would like to thank God for allowing me to be in this position! Secondly, I would like to thank my family, loved ones, trainers, and coaches for pushing me and getting me one step closer to my dreams.”

Jennings, on the other hand, has been committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since July 15 of this year; however, he made it official by signing his letter of intent on Wednesday morning in the auditorium. Jennings had received offers from the University of Kentucky, Virginia Tech University, Penn State University, and the University of Virginia.

Jennings was ranked as the 432 best high school player in the country, as well as being ranked as the 31 best edge rusher in the nation, and the 13 best in the state of Virginia according to 247Sports. Jennings’ 2021 season saw him compile 10 sacks and 55 tackles in seven games; he missed three games due to injury.
