News Roundup: 5/15 - 5/20

Announcements:

Do you have any books you don’t read or want to donate? Help out our county by donating your new or gently used books to designated book bins in your 10th grade English classrooms from May 8th to May 19th. All of the books will be distributed to Little Free Libraries around the county.Whichever 10th grade English class gathers the most books by the 19th will win a donut party.

If you are interested in either hosting a Japanese student in March of 2024, or going to Japan in June of 2024, please see Mrs. Gladstone to be added to the Canvas course or check the morning announcements for the link.

Lily Lemieux led Clover Hill’s JV soccer team against Monacan with four goals. Vanessa Villatoro and Amorie Smith also scored.

 

This week:

Monday (5/15):

The boys varsity tennis team has a game against Cosby on the road. The game will start at 3:30 p.m.

The girls lacrosse teams have games against Mechanicsville. Both teams will play at home. The junior varsity team will play at 5:30 p.m and the varsity team will play at 7 p.m.

The boys varsity lacrosse team has a game against Thomas Dale on the road. The game will start at 6 p.m.

 

Tuesday (5/16):

The girls varsity tennis team will play against Cosby at home. The game will start at 3:30 p.m

The baseball teams have games against Cosby. The junior varsity team will play on the road and the varsity team will play at home. Both games will start at 5 p.m.

The softball teams have games against Cosby. The junior varsity team will play at home and the varsity team will play on the road. Both games will start at 5 p.m.

The girls soccer teams have games against Cosby. Both teams will play at home. The junior varsity team will play at 5:30 p.m and the varsity team will play at 7 p.m.

Wednesday (5/17):

Cavs for Christ will meet before school in room 423. All are welcome to join.

Ultimate frisbee club will have a meeting. The meeting will begin in room 412 and then migrate outside to play ultimate frisbee. All are welcome to join and are encouraged to invite friends.

The girls varsity outdoor track team will have a meet against James River on the road. The meet will start at 4 p.m.

The boys varsity outdoor track team will have a meet against James River on the road. The meet will start at 4 p.m.

The softball varsity team has a game against Glen Allen at home. The game will start at 5 p.m.

There will be a senior awards assembly in the auditorium at 6 p.m

 

Thursday (5/18):

The Cursive Club will have a meeting after school in Mr.Goobic’s room.

There will be an encore dance recital in the auditorium at 3 p.m.

The spring band concert will be held in the auditorium from 4 p.m to 10 p.m

The varsity baseball team has a game against George Whythe at home. The game will start at 5 p.m.

The junior varsity softball team has a game against Matoaca on the road. The game will start at 5 p.m.

The boys varsity soccer team has a game against George Whythe at home. The game will start at 7 p.m.

 

Friday (5/19):

There will be an encore dance recital in the auditorium from 8 a.m to 8 p.m.

The girls varsity outdoor track team will have a meet against Highland Springs on the road. The meet will start at 12 p.m.

The boys varsity outdoor track team will have a meet against Highland Springs on the road. The meet will start at 12 p.m.

Saturday (5/20):

The girls varsity outdoor track team will have a meet against Highland Springs on the road. The meet will start at 10 a.m.

In the community: 

Authorities are investigating an incident in which 70 barrels of waste were dumped near the James River park system. 

A 13-year-old  Matoaca middle school student was found with a loaded firearm in his backpack after being searched by the school’s resource officer.
