Announcements:

Students can sign up to take the DMV learner’s permit test at school on Dec. 13 instead of going to the DMV. The information is outside of room 229 for students who want to sign up.

Any students interested in traveling to Portugal and Spain in June 2024 can sign up for and attend the informational meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 29. See Mr. Miller in room 205 for more information.

Students can sign up to visit Write Aid, Clover Hill’s writing center, to get help with writing assignments by scanning the QR code on flyers in English classrooms. Write Aid is open during Cav Morning on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The deadline for submitting to the Preservation Virginia Artwork Contest is Dec. 9. Students can submit artwork based on the local community.

Seniors who still need to order their caps and gowns can do so by going to Herff Jones’ website. Prices go up by $20 after Dec. 15. 

 

Last week:

Seniors took over for teachers and other staff members on Monday, Nov. 21 as part of senior leadership day.

Students and staff had three days off to celebrate Thanksgiving.

 

This week:

Monday (11/28):

The step team will practice from 3:30 to 4 p.m in the commons.

 

Tuesday (11/29):

The varsity and junior varsity girls basketball teams will play against Hugeunot on the road. The JV game will start at 5:45 and the varsity game will start at 7:15.

The boys varsity basketball team will play against Benedictine at Douglas Freeman High School in a varsity invitational. 

The swim and dive teams will compete in a meet at SwimRVA.

 

Wednesday (11/30):

Cavs for Christ will meet at 8:10 in room 423.

The step team will practice from 3:30 to 4 p.m. in the commons.

The girls basketball teams will play against James River at home. JV starts at 5:45 and varsity starts at 7:15.

 

Thursday (12/1):

Opening night of Theatre on the Hill’s play Get Smart will be at 6:30 in the forum. Tickets are $10 at the door.

This is the deadline to submit portraits for the yearbook. Candid color automatically sends in any pictures they took, but students who received pictures from a private photographer need to email them to [email protected].

 

Friday (12/2):

The second performance of Get Smart will take place at 6:30 in the forum.

This is the final day to order a yearbook

 

Saturday (12/3):

The indoor track and field team will compete in the Virginia Opener in Virginia Beach for their first meet of the season. 

Closing night of Get Smart will be at 6:30 in the forum.

 

In the community:

On Monday, Dec. 5, the Richmond Philharmonic will host their holiday pops concert at 7 p.m. at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture. Admission is free.

Virginia attorney general Jason Miyares launched the “One Pill Can Kill” initiative to inform families about the dangers of opioid addiction and overdose.
