Great Scott! The unforgettable time traveling experience is back!
Theaters go back in time for “Back to the Future’s” 40th anniversary. Starting Oct. 31, select theaters are showing the film for around two weeks. This special event allows new and old fans to come together and experience this classic film on the big screen.
Michael J. Fox, the actor for Marty McFly, has been very active in the “Back to the Future” community for the anniversary. Fox has been attending special screenings and interviews. Fox expressed gratitude for the role.
“This film has given me my life. They have given me my joy in the work that I do and I’m forever grateful,” Fox said.
Just before the anniversary on Oct. 14, Fox published his book “Future Boy” where he talks about playing two remarkable roles at the same time. The main focus of his memoir is his reflection on the work and struggle he went through during his time on set.
“I had to succeed in Back to the Future. I was operating in no sleep while playing the most important role of my career,” Fox said.
Aside from Fox, the interviews include Christopher Lloyd, the actor of Doc Emmett Brown. Lloyd attended a 40th anniversary event in Barcelona, Spain. Along with this, he is selling “Back to the Future” collectibles and signed merchandise on his official online store. Film teacher William Kaskay re-watched “Back to the Future” during the anniversary and spoke on if the film is outdated.
“Absolutely not. I think [Back to the Future] stands the test of time, not only because of the polished screen writing and unique approach to time travel narratively, but also the cultural impact it had. It feels just as fresh as it would have in the ‘80s for people that get to see it for the first time,” Kaskay said.
“Back to the Future” will never get old no matter the anniversary; it remains as fun, exciting, and relevant today as it was in 1985.
