This weekend, Feb. 13-14th, Clover Hill High School’s Choral Department is hosting their 16th Annual Mid-Atlantic Show Choir Spectacular (MASS).

The two-day event will showcase 15 different show choir groups from across 10 different schools. Mass is one of the Hill’s largest fine arts events of the entire year, and it has been known to foster a competitive, yet fun, environment for show choirs from across the region to showcase vibrant vocals, choreography, and show design.

MASS has become a signature tradition for the Choral Department. It allows for Clover Hill’s own show choirs the chance to perform on their home stage while connecting with other schools. Junior Ary Sosa, dance captain of New Dimensions, Clover Hill’s mixed show choir, reflects on MASS marking the start of competition season for many performers.

“MASS is very special because it is so many of the groups’ first competition,” Sosa said. “We have the pleasure of hosting the first competition and it’s exciting to connect from people from other groups and help them with anything that they need.”

In addition to performances, the event features judges, awards ceremonies, and opportunities for students to receive feedback.

Students, families, and members of the community are encouraged to attend and cheer on the performing groups s as well as Clover Hill’s own performers. Iridescence, Clover Hill’s all female show choir, will perform at 9:20 PM on Friday evening, and New Dimensions, Clover Hill’s mixed show choir, will perform at 5:20 PM on Saturday evening. Tickets will be available at the door throughout the weekend, and the department hopes for a strong community turnout to celebrate the arts at Clover Hill.
