On Feb. 13, the Winter pep rally took place at Clover Hill High School. Members of the African American Culture Club, swim team, track team, basketball teams, and cheerleaders made appearances.
Art teacher Haley Ferguson, who organized the event, says that it was a performance-heavy pep rally.
“I think all the performers and the people involved in the pep rally did a good job,” Ferguson said.
Rasean Carter, head of the African American Culture Club, or AACC, which had a presence at the pep rally, says that he thinks the pep rally is good for the school.
“[It’s about] really showing a different side [of the school] that many people don’t get to see in their everyday lives,” Carter said.
Additionally, everyone was organized hours before the pep rally began.
“We got some balloons, streamers and shirts to let everyone know we were AACC,” Carter said.
Ferguson talks about the process of organizing the pep rally.
“[My sister and I] got together all the groups, organized the timeline, contacted everyone and put the music together,” Ferguson said.
“So many people liked [the pep rally] last year, so we just wanted to keep on bringing it, you know, more enthusiasm, more energy,” Carter added.
