Clover Hill High School is hosting its first ever spring carnival on April 14 from 4-7 p.m. Organized by CHHS gym teacher and wrestling coach Jeremy Fox, the celebration will kick off in the school’s parking lot. This carnival will serve as a way to show support for the many spring sport games taking place that day.

“That day I believe we will have girl’s tennis, boy’s baseball, softball, and boy’s soccer,” Fox said.

In addition to supporting spring sports, a wide variety of games will be available to all those who attend the carnival. The games are sponsored and designed by CHHS clubs and teams.

“I left the game choices up to the clubs but currently we have tailgate toss, bowling with a football, face painting, hair coloring, and probably will have a cake walk,” Fox said.

If you break a sweat playing the fun games, Kona Ice, a popular shaved ice establishment, will be on site accompanied by other tailgating food options. These treats can be brought with you while watching your Cavaliers in action on their sports designated field. Teams will experience positive effects on their motivation if they see more faces in the crowds. This fact was a prime motivator for Fox when planning the spring carnival.

“I want this to bring awareness to our teams, students, and the community to just have some fun on a nice spring day,” Fox said

The spring carnival might just be the beginning of a new tradition for Clover Hill High School. Fox is working towards organizing more events, like the spring carnival, to get more activity and support for the sports program.

“I hope this could be something we could set up for each sport season. Like hosting a fall festival, a spring one, and some type of winter one to create yearly events so each season we can do something different to celebrate our teams and increase community pride,” Fox said.
