As senior Sadie Peterson walks the stage at graduation, she leaves behind her legacy with everything she has accomplished during her four years at Clover Hill.
Peterson, a student of the Math and Science Specialty Center (Math/Sci), plays an important role in Clover Hill’s community with her various roles in extracurricular activities and classes.
“[I am] in marching band, pep band, French Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M Music Honors Society, and National Honor Society,” Peterson said. “[Some of my leadership roles are] head historian for symphonic band, marching band section leader, pep band section leader, … and French Club historian.”
Through Peterson’s roles in various areas of Clover Hill, she has gained many valuable skills such as leadership, initiative, and adaptability. These skills have prepared her to lead the rest of her life with purpose and connect with people of many different backgrounds.
“Being in Math/Sci has really prepared me for research environments in college and the real world,” Peterson said. “Being in advanced placement seminar and advanced placement research has really improved my [confidence, presenting, and research skills].”
Clover Hill has many things to love about it: the staff, students, community, diversity, and opportunities. Out of all these things, Peterson loves the community the most.
“I’ve loved the community [Clover Hill] has! I’ve met some of my best friends and we’ve bonded over school work and projects for Math/Sci. It’s just been really great,” Peterson said. “I also love the band, I think it’s super special compared to other schools.”
The last step of high school is deciding what college to attend and what profession to pursue after. Peterson is committed to Virginia Tech (VT) for college with a major in nano medicine and an undecided minor.
“I choose VT because I just immediately fell in love with the big school campus but small school feel. I’m super excited for all the science opportunities they have and just the super fun hokie community in general,” Peterson said. “I’m really excited because it is the only school in the United States with nano medicine as a major.”
Clover Hill will miss such a kind and ambitious young woman who serves as a role model for many around her.
