Brianna Miller, known by friends as Bri, is a senior at the Math and Science Center at Clover Hill and an outstanding player on the Clover Hill Softball team. Miller has played for many years and is continuing her softball career at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

After beginning her softball career 10 years ago, Miller explained that her reasoning for starting to play all those years ago was because she found a sport she was great at and it just became a major part of her life.

“I started playing when I was seven or eight, and I started because I tried other sports and I was just really bad at them, and my dad played baseball, so we just decided to try softball. At a young age I liked it because I was finally good at a sport, and now it’s just become a part of my life. I look forward to games and practices,” Miller said.

She discusses her favorite memories playing as a young athlete, making memories with her teammates and her dad along the way.

“My favorite childhood memory of softball was going undefeated and winning the championship in 10u. It was really special since my dad was the coach and me and all the girls were really close so it was just a great moment for all of us,” Miller said.

Miller discusses all she has learned and the impact her team has had on her while playing for Clover Hill for the past four years.

“Playing at Clover Hill has really taught me the importance of being a team and sticking together. Not being able to play cohesively will only hurt the team and any differences need to be set aside on the field,” Miller said.

Miller explains how going to states was her favorite memory playing Clover Hill Softball because of the fun she had with her teammates despite not winning.

“My favorite Clover Hill memory was going to states my freshman year. Staying in a hotel with all the girls was the best and even though we lost staying up that night talking in the hotel room it was a lot of fun and I wish I could go back,” Miller said.

She talks through her rationale about the difficult decision of choosing to play softball at the collegiate level.

“I chose to play in college after a really long talk with myself of if I really wanted to do it. I went through a time where I was so defeated and just done with Softball that I didn’t want to play in college. After a couple of weeks I knew that I couldn’t just give up on the sport I’ve devoted 10 years and countless hours to, so I got back into the recruitment process and finally found my home,” Miller said.

Miller talks about how she is excited to play in college because all the players want to be there and are equally as committed to succeeding and furthering themselves and their team.

“At UMBC I’m most excited to be a part of a team with the same work ethic and mindset. Playing in college means you are 100 percent choosing to be there and you have to work to get there, so everyone knows the work they put in to get there and are continuing to prove they deserve to be on the team,” Miller said.

Miller has made many contributions to Clover Hill during her time here, whether on the field or just a kind face you see in the hallway. She will be missed by friends on The Hill, but she will continue to do great things at UMBC starting in the fall.
