By hiring a new coach and recruiting more players, the future of the Clover Hill Boys Lacrosse team is looking bright.

New coach Brian Davis explains his goals for the upcoming season.

“The long-term goal is to continue building this program, with a hope of initiating a JV squad to be able to build players’ skills starting in eighth grade,” said Davis. “We want to build on last year and make improvements where we can.”

As the new coach, Davis is also expecting many differences to be made in this new season.

“With me stepping in as the head coach this year, there are obviously some differences to be expected,” said Davis. “I am working to build an environment where players aren’t afraid to make mistakes, but are even more willing to learn from them, and make better mistakes the next day,” he said.

Returning player Coleman James is excited for the turnout of a new start in the lacrosse season.

“I’m very excited to practice with the team and get better,” said James. “I feel like the team morale this year will be much better than last year, and I will actually enjoy the sport this year,” he said.

Coach Davis recognizes that the team has faced challenges in the past and is working to move past them.

“I have encouraged all of my players to be open and honest with me, and let me know when they have conflicts,” Davis said. “I will do my best to work with them, while also holding them to their commitment and my high expectations,” he said.

Despite wins and losses, Coach Davis defines success in his own eyes.

“Success to me is defined by the journey, not the outcome,” said Davis. “If a player gets to the end of the season and immediately starts talking about playing the next season, and what they can do to get better, then that is a success,” he said.

Starting up very soon, the boys’ lacrosse team is unleashing a new beginning for themselves. Their first game of the season will be on March 18th, at the Cavalier Stadium.
