Clover Hill Men’s basketball fought hard this 2025-2026 season to pull off a record of 6-12. They finished their year with senior night ending, in a close loss.

Seniors this year were game changers when it came to leadership and helping the team succeed. They played a big role which led them to dominate opponents and fight out close wins. Coach McCandlish is proud of how well the captains have done.

“We have Andrew, Lance, and John, and, you know, they do provide a lot of leadership. They know what we’re trying to do, how we’re trying to do it, and they put a great emphasis on doing things the right way. So to me, they’ve just been great leaders all year long,” McCandlish said.

It is important for student athletes and teams to understand what their strengths and weaknesses are. Clover Hill figured out their strengths early and used them to their advantage. Senior Captain John McGrew understood their strengths.

“I would say rebounding because of our size and scoring inside the paint,” McGrew said.

Coach McCandlish was another game changer this year for this basketball team. Although they had an extremely tiring week, playing 5 games in 5 days, they managed to keep their heads up and play through it with confidence. Coach McCandlish was determined to push through a hard week and successfully win games. Watching film and putting together strategies was his main goal.

“We have been going over the game plan and watching film before games,” McGrew said.

The team’s chemistry this year was the most important part of keeping this team running strong.

“Our team’s strength is the way they play together. When we’re working together and everything’s clicking, they really play a beautiful brand of basketball. They have such great chemistry right now at this point in the season. You know, just kind of making sure we’re putting them in positions to take advantage of that,” McCandlish said.
